The Help-line is the most popular and accessible programme for survivors of violence.
For many clients, the Help-line offers the only opportunity for emotional support and understanding with anonymity. This service is appropriate for women who live in a situation of violence, but are not ready to take steps towards change; women who have noticed the first signs of domestic violence and need consultation; women victims of violence who need assistance in making a decision. The Help-line has a database of specialized assistance that women can take advantage of when facing specific difficulties. In a crisis situation, following a recent occurrence of violence, the Help-line consultants develop a security plan and refer the client to the Crisis Unit or to another appropriate programme. Most of women call the Help-line after incidences of domestic violence, sexual violence, or trafficking in women. The Help-line also provides prevention information to young women planning to travel or work abroad, so they can avoid falling prey to traffickers. The Help-line provides free legal consultations for women survivors of violence every Wednesday from 17,30 to 21,30. A volunteer with a law degree gives these specialized consultations. This is a good opportunity for women and adolescents survivors of violence to learn their rights and how to exercise them when dealing with different institutions.
The first contact with the Centre is made through the Help-line.
