Increasing the effectiveness of referral, support, protection and reintegration of victims of THB, through the practical application of the Transnational mechanism

The “Animus Association” Foundation is a partner in the realization of the “Increasing the effectiveness of referral, support, protection and reintegration of victims of THB, through the practical application of the Transnational mechanism” project, in the BG13 program “Interaction within the framework of Schengen and fight against Cooperation and Combating Cross-border and Organised Crime, including Trafficking and Itinerant Criminal Groups “. This program is funded by the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2009-2014. The project is of 15 months duration and starts on 1 January 2015 and it will cost EUR 418,840. Beneficiary of this project is the State Agency for National Security, in partnership with the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Poland, the Hungarian National Police Headquarters, the National commission for combating traffic in human beings of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Bulgaria and “Animus Association” Foundation. The project is aimed at developing resources of the Bulgarian law enforcement structures, social workers, other national organs and non-governmental organizations(NGOs) for deliberation, assistance, protection and reintegration of the victims , as well as improving and strengthening the cooperation and mutual understanding between them at national and international level, through practical application of the Transnational Referral Mechanism.
As a partner in the project, the “Animus Association” Foundation has the following activities, with regard to the victims of trafficking in human beings:
– Accommodation in a crisis centre for a period of three months
– Risk assessment and security plan
– Empowerment program, which involves developing skills for realization on the labour market
– Humanitarian aid
– Supervision and debriefing for the team
An opening conference, for starting up the project, took place in Sofia on 27 January 2015 in the premises of the State Agency for National Security. The project is based on the understanding, that effective counteraction against organized crime and the prosecution of the perpetrators is only possible if there is humane treatment and care for the victims. The project is based on the long-standing experience and the cooperation between “Animus Association” and the police, in cases of trafficking in human beings. Protecting the interests and victims’ rights is an overriding concern to all of partners.
